A hilarious story of a 36-year-old jobless man Pushpender (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), trying to find a wife and Anita (Athiya Shetty) who's also looking for a husband. But there's a catch - Anita wants to settle abroad after marriage.Anita lives with her parents Mr. Awasthi (Vivek Mishra) and Mom Mrs. Awasthi (Navni Parihar). Anita rejects all marriage proposals where there is no chance of her going abroad. She has now gained a reputation in her locality and people are afraid of asking for her hand in marriage. They start rejecting her proposal instead. Pushpender has just returned from Dubai to Bhopal for a long holiday. He wants to get married, but his mom Indu (Vibha Chhibber) keeps rejecting all proposals as she needs a dowry. Hema is Pushpender's sister and a good friend of Anita.When Anita gets desperate, her Mausi advises her to seduce Pushpender, since he is looking for a bride. Anita is dead against it as Pushpender is too old according to her. Her Mausi explains that she is out of options and shortly Pushpender will be gone as well. As Anita decides to go for Pushpinder, to her horror, the same day he gets engaged to a fat girl, because his mom approved as her family had a lot of money. Anita tries to get Pushpinder to reject the proposal, but he can't do so due to the fear of his mother. The wedding is in 4 days.Anita gets a major reprieve when the wedding gets called off when the girl's family refuse to pay any dowry. Anita takes advantage, scoops in, declares her love to Pushpender and to circumvent his mother, they elope. Both families are shocked when Anita and Pushpender come back home after having wedded in a temple. Pushpender's mom gives up and allows a formal wedding to take place without dowry.Now Anita doesn't really love Pushpender, so deploys all innovative methods to avoid sleeping with Pushpender. Then after the wedding, Anita finds out that Pushpender was fired from his job in Dubai and has now taken up a new job on Bhopal. Anita devastated, but slowly realizes that Pushpender is a nice guy and her whole family to grateful to have him as their son-in-law.A few days later news comes that Pushpender has been re-instated at his old Dubai job with a raise. But now Pushpender does not want to go back as he wants to stay with his family. His mom Indu is livid as she wants Pushpender's salary to fund Hema's dowry. Indu tries to teach Anita to withhold sex from Pushpender to force him to go to Dubai. Pushpender finds out and slaps Anita, who leaves home. Anita is forced to return to her husband's home when her father refused to provide refuge in his house, telling Anita that she needs to find solutions to her own problems.Pushpender tries hard to make Anita smile, but she stubbornly refuses to be placated. One day Pushpender leaves, leaving a note behind that says he has gone back to Dubai. That day Anita realizes how much she loves him. But the next day he comes back saying he could not leave before seeing his family. Anita and Pushpender have a tearful reunion.
